A Legacy of Everyday Luxury - Since 1948

Our story began with fabric. In 1948, founders Will Funston and Albert Woodruff noticed that high-end trade showrooms in New York City were discarding thousands of yards of pristine fabric simply because they were "seconds". Seeing an opportunity to bring beauty to the public, they began selling these designer textiles from a small country store in Bedford Village, NY. What started as a small operation has evolved into a nationwide destination for decorative fabrics and custom home furnishings. While we have grown, our core belief remains unchanged: high-quality design should be accessible to all.

1948

Calico Corners starts as a small country store in Bedford, New York, selling seconds of designer fabrics.

1960s

A demand for high quality fabrics, selection and great values sets the stage for growth.

1970s

Calico Corners becomes an established retail business with multiple locations across the country.

1980s

Stores begin offering custom-made products, with a strong focus on window treatments and reupholstery.

1990s

Calico Corners introduces a custom furniture line with more than 200 frame choices.

1996

The first catalog launches, and Calico Corners expands its designer collections of first quality fabrics.

2013

Calico drops "Corners" from its retail name and adopts a new logo.

2023

Celebrating 75 years, new Calico design shops open to showcase an expanded selection of fabrics and furnishings.
