Sheer window treatments constructed with a pleated heading (and crinoline) or trimmings of any type should be professionally dry-cleaned. Open weave fabrics such as casements and laces do not lend themselves to washing and should be professionally dry-cleaned. Vacuum your window treatments frequently. Removing surface dust keeps it from settling into the fabric where it is likely to react with anything spilled on the fabric to make a stain even worse.
