Cushion Options and Wood Finishes

Most furniture is available in five furniture cushion choices, so you can select the perfect comfort for you:

1. Blendown cushions
are extra plump and extra soft because they are filled with mounds of polyester fiber sandwiched between “blankets” of down, fiber and feathers. Blendown cushions are soft and cushy like 100% down. These cushions should be fluffed to retain their shape and look their best. For a down-like cushion on chairs and sleep sofas, we recommend hybridown cushions for reduced maintenance (see option 4 below).
2. Springdown cushions

are the best available and are standard on most of our pieces.  They come with a Lifetime Warranty and will provide many years of luxurious comfort. Springdown cushions contain individually wrapped coil springs encased in high-resiliency foam. Then the cushion is wrapped with a thick layer of ultra-soft blendown, a “blanket” of down, polyester fiber and feathers encased in fabric.

3. Hypoallergenic cushions

are offered at no extra charge for people allergic to down.  Similar to springdown cushions, they also come with a Lifetime Warranty and are made of 100% synthetic materials.

4. Hybridown cushions

combine the best of springdown and blendown cushioning. They feature a center core of short, wrapped coil springs surrounded by polyester fiber and down. Hybridown cushions have better shape retention than blendown cushions.

5. Extra-firm cushions
Extra-firm cushions are for those who prefer a little extra support and like to sit “on” the cushion, not sink into it.  These cushions also carry a Lifetime Warranty.

Please note: the back cushion style and filling is determined by the design of the upholstered furniture and is not optional. Attached pillow cushions will be a blendown in some styles or in others supported by wrapped coil springs for a firmer back.

Come into any of our stores and test the cushion options for yourself.  We carry full-size cushions in every store so that you can line them up in a sofa frame and move from one to another until, like Goldilocks, you find one that’s “just right.”

           Wood Finishes

Furniture with exposed wood frames comes in a wide range of beautiful hand-applied finishes. Each finish may involve as many as 10 separate applications, adding layers of texture and shading to the natural wood grain.  From mahogany to ebony to cottage white, we’ll create the perfect custom upholstered furniture for your home.
